Settling Block Piers
Upon inspecting the crawl space of this historic home, the LRE Design Specialist immediately noticed that many of the original block piers supporting the floor joists above had settled into the soil below, creating a lack of stability. Pieces of wood had been previously placed between the piers and the joists in an attempt to provide supplemental support.
Makeshift Block Piers
Previous attempts to support the home's floor joists using stacked blocks and bricks had proven inadequate over time.
Damaged Floor Joists
Many of the wooden floor joists in the crawl space were damaged due to insufficient support beneath them.
Installing SmartJack Footers
The LRE team begins installing the SmartJack system by excavating soil to create footers, which are then filled with a solid, settlement-resistant base.
Installing SmartJacks
Each SmartJack is carefully measured and adjusted to properly fit in the crawl space and provide adequate support.
Complete Crawl Space Stabilization
The LRE team successfully installed the SmartJack system, giving the home's floor joists durable, permanent support.
