LRE Foundation Repair Case Studies: Auger Cast Project - Manatee County Water Treatment Plant
A new water treatment tank was slated for the Manatee County Water Treatment Plant. The weight of the tank called for additional support underground, namely Deep Foundation piles. Several challenges were present, including Hurricane Hermine, which brought heavy rain and winds to Florida at the same time as the pre-construction work. The pit-like work area would make it difficult to install piles during heavy rain. In addition, several obstructions were identified underground during the installation of the Deep Foundation piles.
LRE Foundation Repair, the engineer and the general contractor worked together to overcome these challenges on the job site. LRE was hired to install 175 Auger Cast piles to 60' depths. Each pile was 18" in diameter and featured full length steel cages designed for compression loads. A 1143-B load test was performed on site to ensure the Auger Cast piles were well suited for the water tank.
