LRE Helps Surprise Veterans with Home Makeover in St. Petersburg
LRE was blessed to have the opportunity to offer its construction and restoration services to The Boley Centers' Martin Lott Residence for Veterans on Tuesday.
Over 100 volunteers, LRE included, surprised the eight Veterans living in the house, which is located in St. Petersburg, with home renovations while the heroes were attending a Veterans Day function led by Congressman Jolly.
The house was painted and provided with new lawn furniture, a new fence and outdoor games like a basketball hoop and cornhole boards.
LRE helped stabilize and re-level a decorative wall, and laid new sod, mulch and landscaping for the Veterans. Before we could lay the new sod, LRE removed a large section of concrete from the site, which featured volunteers from the Associated Builders and Contractors and Home Depot, among others.
In addition, LRE provided the 8 Veterans with tickets to an upcoming Tampa Bay Lightning game.
"It's impossible to say 'thank you' enough to our military for the sacrifices they make and the freedom they provide us," said LRE Vice President/General Manager Frank Vitale. "LRE prides itself in giving back to the community. It's a tremendous honor to offer this token of gratitude and have it contribute to something as important as housing for our Veterans."
The feedback from all the volunteers suggested our team members -- John Taylor, Brandon Best, Scott Higgins, Tom Watson, Marshall Hartwell, David Randall, Jorge Carreras, Adam Crace and Wilving Santiago -- did an outstanding job representing LRE and helping to carry out the home remodel at the Veterans' home.
